Every piece is painstakingly hand carved from hollow bone which is then filled and sealed. These pieces will smell like bone and the black paint, the smell will dissipate as time goes on. I typically include a small packet including cloves and other spices that help make the bones smell better over time.
Due to every piece being hand carved there will be variances in color shape and size.

A beautiful set of hand carved bone hnefatafl pieces. Although they are not replicas of any particular find, they have a simple elegance that gives you the impression that they very well could have been. I am very pleased with my purchase.

This set of hnefatafl pieces is stunning. While all of the figures exhibit the same basic form; because they were individually carved they each have their own unique character. They are beautifully finished, and have a nice weight to them. The photos just can’t do them justice. I bought them as a gift for my father, and can’t wait to give them to him.
